Hotel & Spa Entremares, located in La Manga del Mar Menor in Murcia, Spain, is a 4-star hotel offering all kinds of luxury amenities for its guests, including spa, wellness center, swimming pools, and other leisure and entertainment areas. This year, the hotel sought to elevate its family-friendly offerings by introducing a new aquatic play experience. To bring this vision to life, it partnered with the team at Vortex Spain to design a fully customized Splashpad® that blends seamlessly into its beachfront environment.
The project was not without its challenges. Located directly on the coast, the new Splashpad would be exposed to the harsh marine environment: each water feature had to stand up to the salty elements. In addition, there was limited space in which to install the features and operating equipment: there needed to be a strong focus on the play experience – for a range of ages and abilities – within the limited footprint.
Vortex collaborated with the hotel to design a custom Splashpad with a “Mediterranean” theme. Features like Coco Palm, Pine Tree, Garden Bug promote social interaction and communication. An area focused on little ones offers Aqua Dome No1 and Turtle No2, both with soft water effects to delight young users. And the central area features Flower No5, with colorful Seeflow™ blooms, Spiroo’s self-spinning water jets, and Helio No3 with its dramatic Mega Orb.
LED lighting is also incorporated into the Splashpad, introducing a series of sequences at night. It not only illuminates the space, but also extends the hours of use, making it a welcome feature for guests throughout the day and evening hours.
The aquatic space is managed by Vortex’s MaestroPro™ intelligent controller. Apart from facilitating maintenance tasks, it also allows the creation of sequences with both the lights and water jets, outside operating hours, creating a pleasant aesthetic on the hotel grounds.
