East Chicago pool refurbished with waterslides, Splashpad® & Elevations™ structure
PROJECT TYPE: REFURBISHMENT – NEW WATERSLIDES, SPLASHPAD® & ELEVATIONS™
ANTICIPATED OPENING: SUMMER 2027
Washington Park, in East Chicago (Indiana), is being transformed over the next several months. When finished, an old pool will be completely revitalized with the addition of a waterslide structure. An adjacent Splashpad® and accessible Elevations™ structure will complete the retrofit.
This new aquatic play experience will have a significant impact on the community. The area continues to see growth and investment, and there has been considerable discussion about the possibility of it becoming home to the Chicago Bears in the future. With that momentum, this project is a great example of the community investments being made to support residents and attract visitors.
The waterslide structure features two PrecisionRide™ side-by-side chutes for maximum excitement. One slide is a closed flume from start to finish; the other begins as a closed flume and then opens up partway down. Together they will bring big thrills to the pool deck!
The focal point of an adjacent Splashpad® is a large – and accessible – Elevations™ multi-level play structure. It offers a multitude of interactive water play features for kids to enjoy, either on the structure itself, or in interaction with children on the Splashpad® below. An ADA-accessible ramp ensures children in wheelchairs can access the structure and join in on all the fun.
At the peak of the Elevations™ is a Twinsplash dumping bucket that brings plenty of splashes to anyone nearby. Two small waterslides extend from either side of the structure to entice even the littlest adventurers – a small, closed-flume slide as well as side-by-side kiddie racers.
