The Del Mar Family Aquatics Center had a 60-year old, maintenance-heavy pool that experienced a sharp decline in attendance and revenue. To appeal to the city’s young families and attract them to the facility, the Center decided to invest in water-efficient amenities that would be safe and appropriate for users of all ages. The Aquatics Center reopened with a Vortex Splashpad® and a large, visually-impressive Elevations™ structure. Younger kids now have access to a full range of aquatic play activities, including three slides. The new Splashpad has been a huge success: the Aquatics Center more than doubled their original revenue projections in their first year, and they continue to draw capacity crowds on a near-daily basis.
