The Village, Oklahoma - a city of about 9,300 people within Oklahoma City - had wanted an aquatic playground for years. They coveted a water play area so badly that they started a multi-year fundraising effort, and with a large donation from Love's Travel Stops - founded and headquartered in Oklahoma City - they were finally able to realize their shared community goal.
The Village decided to make the most of the long-awaited dream by working with Vortex and Power Play, the local Vortex expert, to install an exciting Splashpad® aquatic playground. To thank Love's for its generosity they customized the Splashpad® itself into a heart-shaped footprint and put Love's "heart" logo on a huge Supersplash bucket that can't be ignored when it periodically dumps gallons of water on everyone standing below.
The Splashpad® covers 3,500 square-feet in Duffner Park and has 11 above-ground features and 14 ground sprays. The features include a Bucket Trio, Spray Loops, a Water Tunnel, Sunspray, Water Cannons, Aquadome - and the Supersplash.
In part because the dream seemed so long in coming, residents of The Village are particularly appreciative of having it now. It has become a treasured mainstay of summer life in The Village and a perpetual gift to the children in the community. It has become the backdrop for numerous birthday parties, reunions and other community events, and it is the "host" for wonderful aquatic play experiences throughout the summer.
The Duffner Park Splashpad® was planned and supplied by Power Play using Vortex Aquatic Structures water play products. Benchmark Enterprises was the construction contractor.
