A renewed collaboration: Vortex reimagines The Amazoo Water Park with Zoo de Granby

PROJECT TYPE: REFURBISHMENT – replacement of existing Vortex Elevations™ structure and Splashpad®

For over 70 years, Zoo de Granby has been a recognized conservation organization and a leading tourist destination in Canada. Welcoming more than 600,000 visitors each year, the Zoo plays an essential role in protecting endangered species and natural habitats. It also serves as a tool for education and public awareness, highlighting the ecological importance of each species and encouraging everyone to take action to protect our biodiversity.

On hot summer days, one of the highlights of a visit to the Zoo is a trip to The Amazoo Water Park, with its palm trees, four pools, and waterslides. The water park also features an aquatic play area for toddlers called “Bassin Booshikë,” which includes a Vortex Elevations™ multi-play structure and a Splashpad®. In the summer of 2026, this family-friendly play area will be completely transformed and will benefit from major investments to offer a brand new immersive experience to its young customers during the summer!

The Zoo de Granby team has once again collaborated with Vortex, to create a renewed aquatic play concept that meets its vision, incorporates its unique theming and brings a modern touch to the space, while offering diverse play experiences for all ages and motor abilities. Universal accessibility was a key objective of the project.

The new design of the Bassin Booshikë includes modern water games and two multi-level Elevations™ structures. The entire family refresh zone beautifully incorporates the Amazonian theme that served as the basis for the development of the entire water park.

Three separate play areas will welcome visitors:

• A large Elevations™ structure will bring thrills and fun for children of all ages, including three waterslides.

• A medium-sized Elevations™ structure equipped with a wheelchair ramp. Combined with the adjacent Splashpad®, this space encourages family interaction for children of all ages.

• Finally, the youngest visitors to the Zoo are encouraged to explore and discover water games designed especially for them in the shallow pool in the toddler area.

All aquatic structures and facilities feature the Zoo de Granby’s distinctive colors and branding. The large Elevations™ structure features some of Vortex’s new leaf-shaped designs and a remodeled bridge. An LED lighting system, powered by solar panels, will illuminate the area in the evening through custom cutouts featuring the water park’s signature graphic themes.

The new and improved Bassin Booshikë will continue to delight families, young and old alike, for many years to come!
