Vortex Aquatic Structures International, a world leader in the aquatic play industry, was pleased to receive the Green Exhibitor certification for its commitment to sustainable business practices at the 2019 IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights.
Held in Chicago by the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, the Soaring to New Heights conference is the premier event for parks and recreation, forest preserves and conservation agencies in Illinois. The conference brings together more than 4,200 professionals and elected officials for three days of educational programming, networking, professional development, as well as an expo where more than 300 exhibitors showcase their latest and greatest products and services.
The exhibit hall was a major focus for sustainability efforts. In conjunction with the Hyatt Regency hotel where the conference was held, the IAPD and IPRA evaluated each exhibitor with a checklist of sustainable practices to consider by exhibitors in designing their exhibit space. It covered aspects including booth design and construction, promotional materials, giveaways, and shipping, with points awarded for listed practices that relied on local purchases, reduced consumption, reused or recycled content and promoted sustainability in its messaging. Checking off over half the list, Vortex was recognized as a Green Exhibitor.
Sustainability is an ongoing concern for Vortex, both in terms of its products and its business practices. Over the years, the company has worked to offer technical and management solutions to help customers provide durable, eco-friendly aquatic play in their communities.
