The Vortex Splashpad® at Parc Georges-Saint-Pierre in Montreal, Quebec serves as a bright, colorful meeting point for the neighborhood’s multicultural population. It is a refreshing replacement for an old and expensive wading pool that had seen a decline in popularity amongst visitors looking for an exciting, and inclusive way to cool off in the summer months.
Tendered by the City of Montreal, the Parc Georges-Saint-Pierre Splashpad® needed to meet several key requirements. It needed water features suitable for many age ranges, and be accessible to all regardless of ability. The water play products also needed to be sustainable and long lasting, and cover a large surface area. Finally, the new amenity needed to revitalize the park and gather families together.
The Splashpad® fits all the City’s requirements, and more. It includes a mix of play features that provide a range of water effects with varying intensity and interactivity levels suitable for any age, from ground sprays and water cannons, low-to-ground gentle sprayers, and a large snake and Sunspray in the center of the pad. Its zero-depth, concrete surface – painted in bright colors and shapes by the City – is safe and accessible to all, while Vortex’s high-quality water play features meet the City’s needs for a low-maintenance, and eco-friendly solution.
The Splashpad® at Parc Georges-Saint-Pierre has been a real success for the City of Montreal and its users. With a bright, updated look, the new Splashpad® has helped transform the once run-down park into a vibrant gathering space in this diverse neighborhood.
