The Aquatic Centre Paul Boyrie in Grand Tarbes, France was, for a long time, a municipal building geared only towards nautical-based competitive sports. The municipality, however, wanted to revitalize the space to increase attendance and diversify activities.
Originally renovated without new amenities, the aquatic centre soon realized that their community included many young families who also need a safe and fun space to cool down during the summer months and the existing paddling pool was not drawing crowds. They contacted Vortex to install a dynamic Splashpad® that would cater to people of all ages and abilities.
The brightly colored Splashpad® includes a one-deck Elevations™ structure with an open flume slide and yellow Supersplash dumping bucket for older children. A toddler bay features smaller play features, while a three-cannon spray station is perfect for interactive family fun. Visually attractive, the Elevations™ becomes a focal point and draws attention in from the street.
The new family-friendly Splashpad® at the Centre Nautique Paul Boyrie has accomplished what the municipality has set out to do: expand their demographic to young families and has increased attendance by 25%. The amenity is so successful, the Centre will be replacing a second paddling pool to expand the busy Splashpad®.
