The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residences is a large retail, dining and entertainment complex where tourists and locals alike to shop and dine. The complex added a Vortex Splashpad®, which has not only provided a commercial advantage, but has also created a family-friendly aquatic play area to beat the heat and enjoy an entertaining and inclusive experience.
Working with developers Meraas Development, leading international planning and landscape architecture firm Cracknell, and local landscape solutions consultant Axendo, Vortex created a visually stunning and original marine-themed Splashpad®.
With 385 square meters of zero-depth play area, and a play capacity of 160 individuals, Vortex’s custom Splashpad® features a number of unique aquatic structures to ensure inclusive fun for all ages and abilities. Its centerpiece, a large blue lobster stands tall while raining water down from its body. Sea snakes, jellyfish and a crab round out the marine menagerie to cast water in all directions and heights for refreshing and dynamic play. A Superwave flywheel presents a final focal point, as accumulated water spins the wheel for a tidal wave effect, dousing eager audiences below.
Additionally, unlike most water attractions, the Splashpad® at The Beach has the unique advantage of being enjoyed after dark. When the sun sets, LED lighting transforms the play area, making it ideal for evening viewing. A nighttime stroll becomes a magical, captivating adventure as visitors enjoy the beauty of the lights.
