The welder is responsible for conducting the pre assembly and welding of parts in accordance with the drawings and quality standards of the company and in compliance with safety standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare the work

  • Take note of the list of priorities on the shop order
  • Obtain work orders
  • Identify features of drawings for non-standard products
  • Analyze engineering drawings
  • Ensure that the parts conform to drawings
  • Plan the assembly steps when necessary

Perform pre-assembly of parts

  • Remove ridges from parts when necessary
  • Install gauges and devices when necessary
  • Mark the parts and check the dimensions taking into account the contraction of the metal
  • Pre- assemble the pieces and ensure the accuracy of measurements

Perform welding

  • Activate and adjust the welding machine (Tugsten, voltage, etc.).
  • Perform actions to minimize contraction of the metal
  • Solder the parts and check the weld quality and compliance measures
  • Straighten parts when necessary
  • Complete the work order in the ERP system
  • Complete the label and put it on parts
  • Move the parts to the metal finishing

Experience and skills

  • Diploma of Welder/fitter from accredited school required
  • Manual dexterity;
