Vortex Splashpads® offer significant advantages to the city of Tacoma
Metro Parks Tacoma planners were searching for a safe and reliable solution to replace their aging wading pools. By opting for state-of-the-art Vortex Splashpads®, Tacoma gained many advantages over the wading pools:
1) The operating and maintenance costs for the
user-activated, fully-automated Splashpads® are significantly less
than the wading pools’.
2) The zero-depth area also allows children and
adults with reduced mobility or disabilities to share in the fun and interact.
3) By standardizing the products across the parks,
and with the use of the Vortex SafeswapTM anchoring system, the city
can shuffle play products across different parks, refreshing each
Splashpad® periodically. This allowed them to stretch their
budget over time.
4) By installing a Vortex Highflow Water Management System (dedicated water recirculation system) at each park, Tacoma was able to minimize the water usage.
5) The high safety level offered by the zero-depth Splashpad® alleviates parents’ worries and eliminates the need for lifeguards.
6) These installations can be open longer hours than traditional wading pools.
7) Parents also appreciate how easy the Splashpads® are to use; they don’t have to get in the water or put a flotation device on their children.
Advantage #8:
“The Splashpads®
have become a huge draw, not only within the neighbourhood but from across the
city. So far we are seeing about a four-fold attendance increase in each
location, compared to the pools.”
